BIRMINGHAM — Four people have been arrested after police investigating a stolen car uncovered a suspected “chop shop” containing stripped vehicles and suspected stolen car parts in Birmingham.
West Midlands Police said the investigation began after receiving a report that a car had been stolen from Solihull on Sunday, August 16.
Information obtained by officers led them to premises on Cato Street in Birmingham, where the stolen vehicle was discovered. Traffic officers attended the site and arrested four people on suspicion of handling stolen goods.
During subsequent searches of the premises, officers discovered several vehicles that had been stripped of parts, as well as further vehicle components believed to have been stolen.
Police also searched residential addresses linked to the investigation, where more than a dozen car keys believed to belong to suspected stolen vehicles were recovered.
The arrests involved two men aged 32, a 27-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy.
According to West Midlands Police, the two 32-year-old men and the teenager have been released on bail while further enquiries continue. The 27-year-old man was handed over to immigration officers.
Images from inside the suspected chop shop have since highlighted the scale of the police investigation, with vehicles and car components found at the Birmingham premises.
The discovery comes as police continue efforts to tackle vehicle theft and the illegal trade in stolen car parts across the West Midlands.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police have appealed for members of the public to report suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods.

No charges have been announced in the information released by police, and those arrested should be regarded as innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
