M Mostafa ,Tritiobangla desk : Sylhet-born artist Tarek Amin has been granted the UK’s prestigious Global Talent Visa in recognition of his contribution to arts and culture.
Amin, whose full name is Ruhul Amin Tarek, received the visa in June this year.
The UK Global Talent Visa is designed for recognised leaders and emerging talents in fields including arts and culture. Applicants are assessed on their professional achievements, international recognition and contribution to their field.
Originally from Sunamganj in Bangladesh’s Sylhet Division, Amin has established himself as a distinctive figure in contemporary Bangladeshi printmaking.
His work explores themes of the human figure, memory, existence and emotion, with line playing a central role in creating his distinctive visual language.
Over the course of his career, Amin has received several national awards and honours. He won national awards in two consecutive years at the 21st and 22nd editions of the awards, alongside a number of other accolades.
His work has also reached an international audience, with Amin taking part in major exhibitions and art events in Bangladesh, the UK, South Korea and elsewhere.
In 2025, he participated in several exhibitions in London and Birmingham, as well as an art festival in South Korea, further raising the international profile of his work.
His artworks have also been exhibited in countries including Japan, Bhutan, India and Indonesia.
Working primarily with techniques such as woodcut and pencil sketch, Amin uses line as a powerful means of expressing emotion, memory and human experience.
To mark his Global Talent Visa achievement, Kalni Art Studio is hosting a reunion and special arts event on Wednesday, 2 September, at 7.30pm.
