London, 11 July 2026 — Somerset House hosted the National Saturday Club Summer Show and Graduation Ceremony, marking the culmination of this year’s programme. Among the graduates were Izaan Ahmed and Intaz Ahmed, who successfully completed the Society & Change Saturday Clubprogramme delivered by Birmingham City University.
Our family was honoured to receive a special invitation to attend the ceremony in recognition of the students' successful completion of the programme. It was a proud and memorable occasion that celebrated not only academic achievement but also creativity, confidence, and personal growth.
The day began at 10.30 am, when students and their families departed from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire for London. By 1.30 pm, the group arrived at Somerset House, where the celebrations commenced with a visit to the National Saturday Club Summer Show. The exhibition showcased original ideas, projects, and creative work produced by National Saturday Club members from across the United Kingdom.
More than 16 subject areas were represented through partnerships with universities and cultural institutions, including Art and Design, Science and Engineering, Music, Society & Change, Fashion and Business, Film and Screen, Craft and Making, and Writing and Talking. Guided by Programme Leader and Coordinator Alexa Hartwell, students explored the exhibition, making the experience both educational and inspiring.
The highlight of the day was the official Graduation Ceremony held at the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), London. The event was professionally presented by Anaish Yilma, whose engaging hosting style created a warm and celebratory atmosphere. Delivering the keynote address, theatre director Steven Kavuma encouraged graduates to remain curious, embrace creativity, and believe in the power of their own voices, emphasising that creativity has the ability to inspire positive change and strengthen communities.
Each graduate was presented with a Certificate of Achievement, recognising their dedication, collaboration, and creative development throughout the programme. The ceremony celebrated not only educational success but also resilience, teamwork, leadership, and growing self-confidence.
Founded by Sir John Sorrell CBE and Lady Frances Sorrell OBE, the National Saturday Club continues to provide free, high-quality creative education for young people while building valuable partnerships with universities, industry leaders, and cultural organisations across the UK.
For our family, witnessing Izaan and Intaz receive their certificates was a moment of immense pride and reflection. Their achievement reflects months of dedication, enthusiasm, and personal growth. We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone involved in delivering this outstanding programme, particularly Programme Leader Alexa Hartwell, whose encouragement, guidance, and commitment made a lasting impact on the students.
It was truly a day to remember—one that our family will cherish for years to come, alongside the many young people whose achievements were celebrated on this special occasion.
